Long ago, before Portugal was Portugal, the Moorish king Ibn Almundim ruled over Chelb in the Algarve. Returning victorious from the conquest, he took many prisoners with him, including Gilda, a beautiful queen from the northern lands.

Although initially pleased, Gilda became increasingly sad, longing for the whiteness of the snow. The healers could not soothe his sadness until, on the advice of a mysterious woman, the king filled the valley with almond trees in bloom. When Gilda saw the valley covered with white flowers, her joy returned.

Since then, the Algarve has remained the kingdom of almond trees in bloom, the guardian of this ancient legend.

Chemin d’Amande is a warm breeze of wheat, tinged with the whiteness of a freshly picked almond. Its delicate warmth brings with it notes of enveloping sweetness.
