I am in my favorite place for summer snowboarding, admiring the wide alpine terrain. My skin curls up from the wait inside the snowsuit. When the fog clears, I realize that I am in a hot spring, whose crystal clear water shines with minerals. Someone familiar emerges from the shadows. I know him but I can't tell him his name. He hands me a thermos full of a spicy drink scented with cardamom. The taste immediately takes me back to childhood. The tension in my shoulders melts away and I no longer realize where I have arrived. I take another long sip and exhale.
