The story takes place during the harvest of saffron, the most precious of all spices. It’s a time when the passion of red blends with the opulence of gold.<\/p>\n
The land hasn’t changed in the ages the Earth, as far as the eye can see, is speckled with purple. Among the millions of delicate crocus flowers, a work of patience and precision is performed by the pickers that each flower yields just three vibrant red saffron stigmas.<\/p>\n
While the saffron threads are carefully selected and prepared to be dried, the strong aromas of the noble spice cover the background scent of oranges emanating from the fruits on the trees surrounding the house. All around heaps of crocus flowers stripped of their stems exhale a fresh rose scent in tune with the blossoms of the orange trees. Outdoors, the fire is lit with selected woods to produce the highest quality saffron. A warm amber coziness emerges from the flames as the smoke saturates the sky with the smell of musky cedar and sweet vanilla as the saffron threads find their unique crimson colour.<\/p>\n
