PLUM SPRAY PAINT

The composition opens with an intense and velvety plum, juicy, purple and deep like the emotion itself. Its dark softness blends with the burning heat of pink pepper, until the air is pierced by the high-pitched hiss of the wild, electric spray paint, which leaves a trace like a spark of rebellion. The warmth of cinnamon binds this contrast, giving it a pulse, as if the whole composition began to breathe with creative energy. Saffron, radiant as golden powder, blends with the richness of red fruits, while magnolia and jasmine unfold in refined elegance. A sensual note of rum envelops everything, heavy and intoxicating like a forbidden night. On the base, labdanum and patchouli meet the rough depth of leather, tinged with smoke, whiskey and vetiver. During my olfactory training I had noticed that many raw materials typically used in gourmand accords showed undertones, facets very far from the imagery that usually accompanies gourmand compositions. So I decided to try to enhance these dark aspects. mysterious, dusty, animalic. I highlighted the bitter, dusty, earthy, and animalic traits of cocoa absolute. Coffee, with its bitter, herbaceous and roasted notes, gives further color to the fragrance. Vanilla, on the other hand, brings additional powderiness together with oak moss. Floral notes first of lavender and then of jasmine give further mystery and sensuality to the composition, whose vocation remains gothic and mysterious.

More than perfumes, I create intimate fragrances that tell stories.

Miguel Matos Perfumes is perhaps what they call an “Ultra-Niche” brand today. Small distribution, small batches, produced by the perfumer and with a very personal signature of the author.

I believe that this is where the future of artistic perfumery lies. If I had to describe my work, I would say that I start from historical or traditional structures, and then break or twist them to create deconstructed olfactory pieces. I have a passion for vintage French perfumery and Chypre is the style of perfumery that is closest to my heart, but in my portfolio you can find very different things. If at the beginning I tried to amaze the public with a very unusual perfumery, today I look for more subtleties and mysteries in the composition. One thing remained: the search for emotion, beauty and innovation.
