The wild man is a figure of the popular imagination present in many cultures, partly human, partly animal, often depicted completely covered in fur and partly vegetable.

In Alpine culture, the wild man, or Selvadego, acts as a bridge between the real, human, urban and civilized world and the unknown and unreal world that takes shape in the shadows of the woods, the realm of fantastic and mythological characters.

Silenus represents this phenomenon in Greco-Roman culture, often depicted at the court of Dionysus or as lord and companion of the fauns.

SILENO represents wisdom in excess.

This fragrance opens with an accord created to recall the scent of human skin, with lactonic notes of sandalwood enriched with spices. The arboreal element is enhanced by the green notes of bourbon geranium and lavender, and the resinous notes of cypress and juniper, with a strongly animalic base of musk, castoreum and precious woods.

The mineral notes remind us of rocks, the cold water of a stream, while tonka bean, a key ingredient in the fougère formula, adds a touch of sweet elegance.

This rich and complex fragrance is powerful yet delicate, reminding us that we can move between wisdom and madness, delving into the forest of our unconscious to discover who we really are.

Più che profumi, creo fragranze intime che raccontano storie.

Miguel Matos Perfumes è forse quello che oggi chiamano un marchio “Ultra-Niche”. Piccola distribuzione, piccoli lotti, prodotto dal profumiere e con una firma d’autore molto personale.

Credo che sia qui che risiede il futuro della profumeria artistica. Se dovessi descrivere il mio lavoro, direi che parto da strutture storiche o tradizionali, e poi le rompo o le torco per creare pezzi olfattivi destrutturati. Ho una passione per la profumeria francese vintage e il Chypre è lo stile di profumeria che più mi sta a cuore, ma nel mio portfolio si possono trovare cose molto diverse. Se all’inizio cercavo di stupire il pubblico con una profumeria molto insolita, oggi cerco più sottigliezze e misteri nella composizione. Una cosa è rimasta: la ricerca di emozione, bellezza e innovazione.

Even before I launched my first perfumes, I was obsessed with the idea of an “emotion-generating machine”. This is what guides me during my creation process: creating fragrances with the specific purpose of igniting an emotion.
Like a mechanic tuning a powerful engine, I carefully position each note in order to trigger specific emotions: the intensity of the lovers’ passion, the memory of the smell of leather, the sense of nostalgia for an imaginary place, etc.

For this particular creation, my goal was to dig deeper into the very mechanism of the emotional response to my medium of expression, the art of perfumery. How can I make it work? Are there methods that can be replicated? And can they arouse the same emotion in different people?
I experimented in different directions, focusing on a method I had used many times before, but this time with more focus and intention. The goal was to decode an emotion, deconstruct the input that ignites it, in other words write a “Code of Emotion”.

In this experiment, I started with the classic fougère structure – a green, aromatic and woody accord, which is familiar and recognizable. Also, it’s an arrangement that I’ve only recently started to relate to emotionally. But I wanted to push it further, challenging its traditional boundaries and introducing an unexpected twist: a vibrant accord of tropical fruits, with a juicy and mouth-watering mango at its core.

This exotic note upsets the predictable chord of the fougère, transforming it into something familiar and at the same time surprising. The result is a recognizable but also different scent, which requires a moment to identify the familiar imprint of the fougère under the lush and original facet of the fruitiness.
For me, this fragrance evokes a joyful sense of surprise, a contrast between the comfort of the fougère and the playful luminosity of tropical fruits. It is pampering but also invigorating, deep but never heavy, greedy without slipping into the territory of gluttony.

In addition, I set myself a secondary challenge: to avoid the use of iris or iris-like accords altogether and keep animal notes to a minimum, limiting myself to a couple of clean musks.
